What is cholesteatoma?
A
An abnormal collection of squamous epithelial cells in the middle ear - benign

How does cholesteatoma present?
A
- Foul discharge from the ear
- Unilateral conductive hearing loss
- As it spreads, can give infection, pain, vertigo

How is cholesteatoma managed?
A
- Otoscopy can show abnormal build up of white debris in the upper tympanic membrane
- CT head
- Surgical removal to treat
