What body temperature is considered fever
above 38 degrees
> 39 is high grade fever
Fever symptoms
- feel hotter than usual when touching forehead, back or stomach
- sweaty and clammy
- flushed cheeks
Referral in fever
Below 3 months
- if temperature is >=38
Between 3 to 6 months
- if temperature is >=39
- longer than 24 hours
Above 6 months
- longer than 72
- dehydration
- fevrile convulsions
- floppiness
- vomiting
- rash

- Calpol (paracetamol) (120mg/5ml)
- Nurofen Liquid (ibuprofen) (100mg/5ml)

- 2 months plus
- above 4kg

- 3 months plus
- over 5kg
Paracetamol liquid doses for 3 to 6 months
60mg (2.5ml)
QDS 4 hours between doses
