overall physical development
fast, bladder control complete, milk teeth replaced by adulthood teeth, height/size continue growing steadily
growth motor development
better co-ordination + mobility e.g. riding a bike or running, strength + stamina increase
fine motor development
small movement control increases, can draw recognisable objects, catch balls and use household objects e.g. tin opener
intellectual development
develop (world) curiosity, like (slightly factual/relate-able) stories + use their imagination, vocab increases, say/understand more complicated sentences, develops read + write + problem solving skills + can solve simple maths problems, learning ability increases, can remember things
emotional development
better control/expression/concealing over emotions, develop autonomy + independence (can be left alone for a short period), develop empathy + sensitivity for others feelings, self-concept develops so they can talk about their abilities rather than just factual info
social development
develops sharing, co-operating + turn taking, primary attachment starts to swindle as friendships develop, begin to have “special friends” that don’t last long
