Chi- Square Test Flashcards
Chi- square test
Tests whether the 2 variables are independent or related
Contingency table
Used to display the observed and expected for most chi-square tests
A chi- square test examines associations between which general type of variables
Categorical
What does the chi-square (x^2) calculation measure?
Difference in the observed and some categorical compared to expected values under null-hypothesis of no relationship
What does a higher (x^2) value mean?
Greater distance between observed and expected values
What is the null hypothesis of a chi-square test?
No relationship between the categories
What does the p- value of a chi- square test represent?
P- value is the proportion of permutations that produced x^2 values higher than the X^2 values listed above for the real data
Problem of multiple comparisons
There are more than 1000 possible comparisons that we can make
