Atoms that are negativly charged

17
Q

What are Cations?

A

Atoms that are positivly charged

18
Q

Where are metal ions found?

A

Ionic compounds

19
Q

How is Paper Chromatography placed out?

A

A spot of ink is placed on the X mark and the paper is suspended in water. As the water rises up the paper, the different dyes travel different distances and so are seperated on the chromatogram.

20
Q

What is paper chromatography used for?

A

To identify what an unknown liquid is made of

21
Q

Where will the number of protons be on an element on the PT

A

It will be the smallest sumber out of atomic mass or atomic weight (if mass is 3 and weight is 7, the proton will be 3)

22
Q

How would you find the amount of electrons on an element on the PT

A

Work the protons out first and then what ever the protons are, the electrons will be the same ( if the proton number is 8, the electron number will be -8)

23
Q

How would you find the amount of Neutrons on an element on the PT

A

Work out protons, then since the atomic weight is protons and neutrons, minus the proton number from the atomic weight ( if protons = 5 and the wight is 14, you would do 14-5 = 9, neutrons = 9)

24
Q

What is the mass for the 3 sub atomic particles?

A
Protons = 1
Neutron = 1
Electron = 1/2000
25
Q

What is the Brownium motion

A

Random

26
Q

What is the difference between periods and groups on the periodic Table

A

Periods are colums going left or right

Groups go up or down

27
Q

What are 2 functions of a xylem tissue?

A

Transfer of Water

Transport

28
Q

State the names of two other groups of arthropods

A

Insect

Myriapod

29
Q

State two features of cells that are shared by all living organisms.

A

Cell Membrane

Cytoplasm

30
Q

State the names of two cell structures that are involved in making or secreting proteins.

A

Ribasomes

Mitochondria

31
Q

State two ways in which the structure of bacteria differs from the structure of viruses

A

Bacteria has a cell wall and cell membrane
