Q

States of Matter

A

Solid - have a fixed shape and volume
Liquids - have a fixed volume and takes the shape of the container
Gases - has no fixed volume always takes shape of the container

Q

Chemical property

A

the behaviour of a substance as it becomes a new substance

  • reactivity w/ acid
  • reactivity w/ oxygen (combustibility and flammable)
  • reactivity w/ water
  • reactivity to the exposure to oxygen in water/air, rust

Q

Physical change

A
  • substance still exists only has changed form (evaporation or the way it looks, dissolving)
  • reversible
  • a solution is a physical change

Q

Particle theory

A
  1. All matter is made up of tiny particles called atoms
  2. All particles of one substance are the same vice versa
  3. There are spaces between the particles
  4. The particles are always moving, more energy = faster
  5. There are attractive forces among paricles
