Chemical calculations with moles Flashcards
1
Q
What is the theoretical yeild of a chemical reaction?
A
The mass of a product that you expected for the reaction to produce.
2
Q
Why do you sometimes not get the expected yeild of a reaction?
A
- Some of the product can be lost when it is seperated from the reaction mixture.
- Unexpected side reactions.
- The reaction may be reversible
3
Q
How do you work out the percentage yeild?
A
Actual yeild / Theoretical yeild x 100
4
Q
How much will 1 mole of gas ocupy at room temperature and pressure?
A
24 dm³
5
Q
How do work out concentration of solution (mol/dm³)?
A
Number of moles of solute / Volume of solution (dm³)
6
Q
What is a titration used for?
A
To work out the concentration of an unknown solution.
7
Q
What needs to be done before a accurate titration?
A
A rough titration
8
Q
What does concordent titres mean?
A
Each experiment is within 0.1 cm³ of eachother
