Charles’ appointed Arminian Cleric Richard Montagu as his royal chaplain, a clear sign that he had Arminian leniencies and disregarded Parliamentary disproval.

Outsiders believed that Arminian (regarded as Catholics due to beliefs) were subverting the King. His marriage to the Catholic French Princess strengthened these.

William Laud (Arminian) was made the Bishop of London and Richard Montagu (Arminian and anti-Calvinist) made Bishop of Chichester, indicating his clear support for Arminianism.
