priming vs framing
Priming describes how coverage can influence viewer judgement by emphasizing certain matters.
Framing describes how frames are used to affect viewer understanding
1st level agenda setting
media’s influence on issue salience - what attributes of public matters people deem important. Ex: what attributes of immigration are salient to you? Family separation vs. import of drugs?
2nd level agenda setting
evaluates the effect of salience on people’s perceptions. Uses salient attributes like “veteran”, “general”, “served in the war”, to persuade judgement

1st and 2nd level agenda setting
