Physical Activity
Any bodily movement requires skeletal muscles that expends energy.
Physical Inactivity
Undertaking insufficient activity to achieve measurable health outcomes
Sedentary Behaviour
Sedentary Behaviour is the amount of time per day spent sitting or lying down or engaged in non active activities.
Domains of PA
Occupational: Any activity to do as a result of completing your job eg. Builder
Leisure: Activities that a completed during recreational or non-working time eg. Sport
Household: Chores around the house that produce physical exertion eg. Sweeping
Active Transport: Any form of human powered transportation used to get from one destination to another. Eg. Cycling
Dimensions of PA
F - Frequency (Amount of times per week)
I - Intensity (How hard you work)
T - Time/Duration (How Long)
T - Type (Aerobic, Anaerobic)
Structured PA
Any activity that is planned or put aside by someone to fit into their day.
Eg. Organised sport, leisure time like fishing or snowboarding
Incidental PA
Unstructured activity accumulated throughout the course of the day. Often achieved through a goal but it is secondary to the goal
Eg. walking to the shops, household chores like gardening
