Candidates once relied on their parties to run election campaigns, who do they rely on today?
Themselves, because candidates gad found that they, themselves can raise more money than their political parties committee can
What main role do political parties perform during an election Champaign?
Mainly funding the champagne and choosing delegates
How is the president Election a federal election, and not a national one?
Because they have to gain the each states vote and approval in order to win nationally
What are battleground states? And why are they so important?
They are states that can sway to either candidate, so these are usually that states that have the most Champaigning taking place
Election campaign
An organized effort to persuade voters to choose one candidate over others competing for the same office
Primary election
A Peliminrmary election conducted within a political party to select candidates who will run for public office to subsequent election
Closed primaries
Primary elections in which the voters must declare a party affiliation before given the primary ballot containing that parties potential nominees
Open primaries
Primary elections in which voters need not declare a party affiliation in can choose one parties primary ballot to take into the voting booth
Modified closed primaries
Primary elections that allows individual State parties to decide whether they permit independence to vote in their primaries and, if so, for which offices
Modified open primaries
Primary elections that entitle independent voters to vote in a party’s primary
Presidential primary
A special primary election used to select delegates to attend the party’s national convention, which in turn dominates the presidential candidate
Caucus/convention
A method used to select delegates to attend a party’s national convention. Generally a local meeting so Extell kids for county level meeting which in turn socks delicates for a higher level meeting
Front loading
States practice of moving delegate selection primaries and caucuses earlier in the calendar year to get a media and candidate attention
General election
National election held by law in November of every even number to year
Straight ticket
Voting for a single parties candidates for all the offices
