What’s the difference between leadership and management?
Leadership focuses on change, vision and inspiration while management focuses on planning, controlling and maintaining stability.
What is the Fiedler’s model?
According to Fiedler, the less task-oriented a leader is, the more employee-oriented is the leader and vice versa.
The following situational moderator variables in Fiedler’s theory that determine which leadership style is more successful:
- relationship between leader and followers:
positive or negative - task structure:
very structured or very unstructured (i.e., complex and novel) - positional power of the leader:
very consolidated or very fragile
It also describes that in extreme situations leader should be task oriented whereas in regular environment person oriented.
Explain transformational, transactional and servant leadership styles.
Transformational leadership can be understood as an extension of the charismatic leadership - stimulating, motivating and convincing.
Transactional leadership is a purpose driven give and take leadership.
