Population
A set of species living in the same place at the same time
Density
Number of individuals per unit area or volume
Dispersion
Describes the arrangement of individuals in space
Growth Rate
Birth rate minus the death rate
Reproductive Potential
Limited by the maximum number of offspring that each member of the population can produce.
Exponential Growth
They grow faster and faster, can only occur when populations have plenty of supplies and space
Carrying Capacity
Population size where birth rates and death rates are equal
Niche
A range of conditions in which a species can survive
Competition
A relationship in which different individuals or populations attempt to use the same limited resource
Predation
The relationship of predator to prey
Parasitism
The relationship of a parasite and its host
Mutualism
A close relationship between two species where both provide a benefit to each other
Commensalism
A relationship where one species is helped and the other is not helper nor hurt
Symbiosis
A relationship where two species live in close association
