What fire detection systems do not self test when AC power is first applied to the aircraft?
• Wheel well fire detection
• Bleed duct overheat detection
What happens when the Main Deck Fire Arm switch is pressed?
- Shuts down two packs
- Configures Equipment Cooling to closed loop
- Shuts off all airflow to the main deck
- Shuts off all airflow to the lower cargo
- Closes master trim air valve
- Arms main deck fire suppression
Where is the airflow from the remaining pack directed?
Airflow from the remaining pack (1 or 3, so long as all pack switches are left in NORM, IAW the QRH) is directed to the cockpit at a reduced rate of 600 cfm.
What is the total time of fire suppression available to the lower cargo compartments?
334 minutes of suppression is available to either the forward OR aft lower cargo compartment.
What are the Memory Items for an Engine Fire in flight?
Thrust Lever - Confim, Idle
Fuel Control Switch - Confirm, Cutoff
Engine Fire Switch - Confirm, Pull
If the FIRE ENG message shown - Rotate & hold for 1 sec
If after 30 secs FIRE ENG message stay shown
Engine Fire Switch - Rotate to other bottle & hold for 1 sec
How many overheat loops are installed for the APU?
There are no overheat loops for the APU.
What is the indication in the cockpit that an engine fire/overheat loop has failed?
There is no cockpit indication. The system automatically configures to OR logic
What does the careted EICAS message “>DET FIRE/OHT 1” mean?
• Engine fire overheat loops A and B have failed
• Fire detection for engine 1 is not available
You are in cruise in a normal aircraft. The PNF reaches up and, before you can stop him, he pulls the Engine Fire Switch What happens?
Nothing.
The switch is mechanically locked, unless the fuel switch is moved to Cutoff or a fire is sensed.
There is a fire. Now what happens when the PNF pulls the Engine Fire Switch?
- Closes the engine and spar fuel valve
- Closes the engine bleed valve
- Shuts off hydraulic fluid to the EDP
- Depressurizes the related EDP
- Trips the related engine generator
- Arms the fire extinguishers
What does pulling the APU Fire Switch do?
- Arms APU fire extinguisher bottle
- Closes APU fuel valve
- Closes APU bleed air valve
- Trips APU generator field and generator breaker
- Shuts down APU (if automatic shutdown does not occur)
What is the difference between the Factory Frieghter and the BCF with the Lower Cargo Smoke detector system?
The Factory Freighter requires center pnuematic duct pressure to detect smoke, the BCF is static.
What happens when you push the lower deck Cargo Fire Arm (FWD or AFT) switch?
- Shuts down two packs
- Configures equipment cooling to override mode
- Shuts off all airflow and heat into lower cargo compartments
- Closes master trim air valve
- Arms lower cargo compartment fire extinguisher
What happens when you push the CARGO FIRE DEPRESS/DISCH Switch with the MAIN deck fire switch ARMED? What about for the FWD or AFT Lower Cargo switches?
- Initiates airplane depressurization to 25,000’
- Initiates extinguisher discharge sequence to provide effective agent concentration for 334 minutes (in the BCF)
Where is the APU fire warning horn?
Right body gear wheel well on the APU control fire protection panel.
