Attentive Public
Small groups of people who follow one or more particular issue very closely.
Public Opinion
Views prevalent among the general public.
Primary Election
A preliminary election to appoint delegates to a party conference or to select the candidates for a principal, especially presidential, election.
Voter Turnout
The percentage of eligible voters who cast a ballot in an election.
Random Sampling
A subset of a statistical population in which each member of the subset has an equal probability of being chosen.
Voter Registration
The requirement in some democracies for citizens and residents to check in with some central registry specifically for the purpose of being allowed to vote in elections.
Presidential Election
All states appoint their electors on the same date, in November, once every four years.
Party Identification
The political party with which an individual identifies. Party identification is typically determined by the political party that an individual most commonly supports.
General Election
A regular election of candidates for office, as opposed to a primary election.
Midterm Election
General elections in the United States that are held two years after the quadrennial (four-year) elections for the President of the United States.
