Suffrage

Social Capital
The networks of relationships among people who live and work in a particular society, enabling that society to function effectively.
Natural Rights
Rights that people supposedly have under natural law.
Democratic Consensus
Widespread agreement of fundamental principles of democratic governance and the values the undergird them.
Majority Rule
The principle that the greater number should exercise greater power.
Popular Sovereignty
The principle that the authority of the government is created and sustained by the consent of its people, through their elected representatives.
Nationalism
Patriotic feeling, principles, or efforts.
American Dream
The traditional social ideals of the U.S., such as equality, democracy, and material prosperity.
Capitalism
An economic and political system in which a country’s trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state.
Political Ideology
A certain ethical set of ideals, principles, doctrines, myths, or symbols of a social movement, institution, class, or large group that explains how society should work, and offers some political and cultural blueprint for a certain social order.
Liberalism
A political philosophy or worldview founded on ideas of liberty and equality.
Conservatism
A political attitude or ideology denoting a preference for institutions and practices that have evolved historically and are thus manifestations of continuity and stability.
Socialism
A political and economic theory of social organization that advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.
