Engine Fire Handle
Pull – Closes the following:
- Engine Bleed SOV - Fuel SOV - Hydraulic SOV - Crossbleed Valve
Engine Fire Protection Electrical Supply
Detection:
- MAU 1A (DC ESS BUS 1) - MAU 3A (DC ESS BUS 2)
Extinguishing:
- HOT BATT BUS 1 - HOT BATT BUS 2
APU Fire Detection Electrical Supply
Detection:
- MAU 1A (DC ESS BUS 1) - MAU 3A (DC ESS BUS 2)
Extinguishing:
-DC ESS BUS 2
Engine Fire Indications
- Fire bell
- Master WARNING light illuminates
- Associated fire handle illuminates
- “Fire” on associated ITT gauge
- EICAS warning message
APU Fire Indications
- Fire bell
- Red stripe on “APU emergency stop” button illuminates
- Master WARNING light illuminates
- EICAS message
APU Fire Extinguisher Pushbutton
Pressing this button (regardless of whether it’s already illuminated)
-Discharges APU fire bottle
-Shuts down the APU through the APU FADEC
-Closes the APU fuel shutoff valve
-Displays EICAS message
Illuminates if:
-“APU Emergency Stop” button has been pressed
-1 minute has passed since fire detected
APU Emergency Stop Pushbutton
Pressing the “APU Emergency Stop” pushbutton:
- Shuts down the APU through the APU FADEC without a cooldown period - Illuminates a white striped bar on the "APU Emergency Stop" pushbutton - Illuminates "APU Fire Extinguisher" pushbutton entirely red
APU Automatic Shutdown
On the ground only, 10 seconds after fire detected
Cargo Smoke Detection
Forward Cargo:
-Three (3) smoke detectors (DC ESS BUS 1 [x2] and DC ESS BUS 2 [x1])
Aft Cargo:
-Two (2) smoke detectors (DC ESS BUS 2 [x1] and ???)
Cargo Fire Detection Automation
Forward:
-Compartment air circulation fan turns off
-Compartment ventilation outflow valve closes
-High-rate fire extinguisher bottle armed
Aft:
-High-rate fire extinguisher bottle armed
Cargo Fire Indications
- Fire bell
- Master WARNING light illuminates
- Associated cargo compartment extinguishing pushbutton illuminates
- EICAS message
Cargo Fire Extinguishing Bottle Location
Center Avionics Bay
Cargo Fire Extinguishing Pushbutton Logic
Button is armed and illuminates if: -Fire has been detected -Pushbutton is pressed (if not already armed) Pressing armed button: -Discharges the high-rate bottle Pressing button again: -Discharges the low-rate bottle
*In-flight only, low-rate bottle discharges 1 minute after the high-rate bottle
Lavatory Fire Protection
- One (1) smoke detector in each lav
- One (1) fire extinguisher on each waste container
Lavatory Smoke Indications
- Master WARNING light
- EICAS message
- Smoke alarm in respective lav and smoke detector light is on
- Flashing orange rainbow light
