Chapter 7 - Cardiovascular System Flashcards
What are the atrioventricular valves?
LAB RAT
Left Atrium: Bicuspid
Right Atrium: Tricuspid
What is the valve that separates the R ventricle from the pulmonary circulation?
Pulmonary valve
What is the order of electric conduction in the heart?
SA > AV> bundle of His> purkinje fibers
What are the two phases of a heart beat?
Systole: contraction (AV valves close)
Diastole: relaxation (SN valves close)
- blood from atria fills ventricles
How do we measure cardiac output?
CO = HR x SV
SV is the stroke volume:
= volume of blood pumped per beat
Draw out the blood flow image through the heart
Figure 7.5
What is hematocrit?
Measurement of how much sample is composed of RBCs
Universal blood type donor
Type O
What are the Rh factors?
You either have it or done
Either + or -
Positive is dominant allele !
What effect does exercise, c02, and ph, and temp have on Bohr shift?
During exercise:
- c02 increased
- H+ decreased
- temp increased
***they shift the model to the right
What is the primary site of resistance in the vascular system
Artérioles….more so than capillaries !
