- road rules reflect health public policies, and the development of rules and law enforcement have been a major contributor to the success achieved in reducing the road toll.
- the intervention of random breath testing for example both builds healthy public policies but creates a supportive environment by reducing the number of drivers on the road affected by alcohol or drugs.
How does the TAC campaigns reflect action areas of the Ottawa charter?
- These campaigns work to develop personal skills relating to young drivers, fatigue, drug and drink drivers etc.
- TAC assists in providing seminars to community groups, schools, businesses and to educate individuals about the risks associated with road use strengthening community action.
- Ambulance officers participate in educating individuals about the risks associated with road use, which is an example of reorienting health services.
