Chapter 6.90 - Flight Controls Flashcards

1
Q

When is the FEEL DIFF PRESS light armed?

What does it indicate?

Is this a single or dual channel light?

A

Always armed (armed with TE flaps up on some -700/-800 models)

There is a significant difference between the two elevator feel computers, caused when either hydraulic system or elevator feel pitot system fails

Single channel light

Q

When is the SPEED TRIM FAIL light armed?

When is speed trim available?

Is this a single or dual channel light?

A

Always armed

  • Fully enabled between 100 knots and Mach .60 with a fadeout to zero by Mach .68
  • 10 seconds after takeoff
  • 5 seconds after last trim input
  • Autopilot not engaged
  • Sensing of trim requirement

What is the limit for this light?

Is this a single or dual channel light?

A

Always armed

Q

When is the standby hydraulic pump automatically activated?

A
  • Loss of system A or B, and
  • Flaps extended, and
  • Airborne or wheel speed is greater than 60 knots, and
  • FLT CONTROL switch A or B hydraulic system ON, or
  • The main PCU force fight monitor (FFM) trips

6
Q

What happens when the FLT CONTROL switch is moved to STBY RUD?

A
  • Standby hydraulic pump is turned on
  • Respective flight control valve closes (A or B)
  • Standby rudder valve is opened
  • Deactivates the related flight control LOW PRESSURE light
  • Illuminates the amber STBY RUD ON, MASTER CAUTION and FLT CONT lights
  • Allows the standby system to power the rudder, thrust reversers, leading edge flaps and slats (extend only) and the standby yaw damper

Q

What causes an amber SPEEDBRAKES EXTENDED light?

A
  • SPEED BRAKE lever is aft of ARMED, and
  • TE flaps greater than 10, or
  • RA is less than 800 feet

Q

When will auto speed brakes deploy on landing?

A
  • SPEED BRAKE lever is ARMED
  • RA is less than 10 feet
  • Landing gear strut compresses (compressing right strut will also deploy ground spoilers)
  • Both thrust reversers are IDLE
  • Wheel speed is greater than 60 knots

Q

What happens when the alternate flaps switch is moved to arm?

A
  • Turns standby hydraulic pump on
  • Arms standby hydraulic pump LOW PRESSURE light
  • Closes trailing edge bypass valve
  • Bypasses asymmetry and skew protection
  • Arms alternate flap switch
