What is the definition of an antigen?
Every cell has unique proteins on its surface called antigens.
What does a vaccine introduce to the body?
It introduces small amounts of dead or weakened parts of the pathogen to stimulate the white blood cells to produce antibodies.
What would happen to the pathogen if it entered the body again?
The white blood cell would respond quickly and produce the correct antibodies which prevents infection.
What would happen if a large proportion of the population was immune to a pathogen?
It would reduce the spread of the pathogen.
What is the role of an antibody?
An antibody facilitates the destruction of a pathogen.
What does a vaccine contain?
A vaccine contains small small amounts of dead or weakened parts of the pathogen.
What type of white blood cell remembers the the right type of pathogen?
The memory cell.
