The movement of money from Europe to pay for trade goods in China, as Europe had few desirable trade goods; eventually, the bulk of silver supply made its way to China

A standard Spanish silver coin used by merchants in North America, Europe, India, Russia, West Africa, and China.

A city that developed high in the Andes at the site of the world’s largest silver mine and became the largest city in the Americas; population of 160,000 in the 1510s.

A global industry in which French, British, and Dutch exported fur from North America to Europe, using Native Americans and causing great environmental cost to the Americas; parallel commerce operated in Siberia.
Fur Trade
Nickname for animal furs, highly valued for their warmth and symbols of elite status.
Soft Gold
Took an estimated 12.5 million people from African societies, shipped them across the Atlantic, and deposited 10.1 million in the Americas as slaves; 1.8 million died in crossing.
