What happens in Chapter 6?

A

Recently there has been no sign of Hyde, and Jekyll becomes healthier looking, devoting himself to charity. After 2 months without Hyde, Jekyll hosts a dinner party which both Utterson and Lanyon attend. A few days later Poole reports that his master is recieving no visitors.
Utterson goes to visit Lanyon, who he finds in very poor health. LAnyon explains that he has experienced a great shock and expects to die in a few weeks. When Utterson mentions that Jekyll also appears to be ill, Lanyon refuses to talk about the topic ofJekyll. Lanyon says that after his death, Utterson can learn the truth. Utterson writes to Jekyll, for which the reply says that they cannot meet and he is secluding himself.
Lanyon dies a few weeks later. After the funeral, Utterson takes from his safe a letter Lanyon meant for him to read after he died. Utterson finds another envelope within this, which is marked to remain sealed until the death of Jekyll. Utterson overcomes his curiosity and puts the envelope away. He continues to be refused entry into Jekyll’s house.
