What is organizational culture and what is it made of
Organizational culture: shared values, beliefs enabling members to understand their roles and the norms of the organization including:
- observed behavioral regularities: common language terminology, and rituals
- norms: amount of work to be done and the degree of cooperation between management and employees
- dominant values: high product and service quality, low absenteeism, and high efficiency
What are the 4 organizational cultures in MNCs? describe each
- Family culture: strong emphasis on hierarchy and orientation–power oriented (parent leader), management takes care of employees
- Eiffel Tower Culture: strong emphasis on hierarchy and orientation to task–jobs well defined, few off-the-job relationships between manager and employee, formal hierarchy is impersonal and efficient
- Guided missile culture: strong emphasis on equality in the workplace and orientation to the task–work undertaken by teams or project groups, egalitarian and task-driven organizational culture, all team members equal
- Incubator Culture: strong emphasis on equality and personal orientation–organization as incubator for self-expression, little formal structure, environment where participants thrive on an intense, emotional commitment to the nature of the work
