Negative reinforcement
Occurs when the rate of a behavior increased because an aversive event it stimulus removed or prevented from happening.
Positive reinforcement
Occurs when an event or stimulus is presented as a consequence of a behavior and the behavior increases
Positive punishment
The procedure if presenting s stimulus/event the delivery of which decreases the rate of the operant response that produced it. Skinner thought punishment only cause temporary effects. Late to work, drive over speed limit, get a ticket. Also spanking is positive punishment.
Negative punishment
Punishment by removal. A time out, parent gaming toy away, girl staying out past curfew grounded for the next week.
Is punishment effective
Yes so as long as it’s consistent
Learned helplessness
An animal exposed to inescapable aversive stimuli fails yo acquire typical escape responses.
