    Everyone is innocent until proven guilty
  2. Burden of proof
    The burden of proof is always on the Crown
    They must prove that the accused person is guilty prior to a conviction
  3. Beyond a reasonable doubt
    This is the standard of proof for a criminal conviction
    If guilt cannot be proven, the accused must be acquitted
