Chapter 6 Flashcards
Cross-sectional
Research at a given point in time.
Iteration
Process of repetition during the research project, in which you look back to see whether you have made the right decision, analysis or calculation, for the purpose of enhancing reliability.
Longitudinal research
Research that is repeated at several points in time.
Mixed method
A kind of triangulation of research that combines qualitative and quantitative methods.
design phases consist of 4 sub-phases
- Orientation: from idea to design, reason
- Description: formulating the main question and objective and building a model
- Determining: producing a provisional answer to your questions
- Planning: writing the research proposal
Terminology
The research design or the collection method
Research approach
Broader than method.
A group of researchers has a particular view of research and uses specific theories or models.
Research design
Certain research approaches have an associated research design.
Qualitative or quantitative.
Data collections methods
Surveys, experiments and analyzing existing data are quantitative research methods.
