Chapter 5 Flashcards
Concept demarcation
Determining what you mean when you use a specific concept.
(concept-as-intended.)
Stipulative meaning
Definition of a concept that is set out, especially for a specific research project.
Conceptual model
Simplified reflection of reality in which (within the domain) the most important factors of the research and the expected relationships between these factors are shown.
Two-way relationship
Correlation between two factors in a model.
Casual relationship
Cause-effect relationship.
Conceptual model (list
- After demarcation, you link the concepts and formulate assumptions.
- Quantitative and theory-based
- A arrow diagram in which you show the most important concepts of the research and the expected relationships between these concepts.
- Building blocks: all important concept and factors that play a role in the main question
- Relationships: all possible relationships that you expect to find between these building blocks
Assertion
The phrasing of a question implies an assumption. Statements about the domain.
Hypothesis
Verifiable assumption about your research group (population).
Domain
The whole ‘area’ related to your research.
