Expected response rate
The expected response rate from the data collection phase.
Gross sample
The number of questionnaires sent.
Net sample
The actual response rate to the questionnaires sent.
Item non-response
Those questions that were not completed by the respondent.
Non-response bias
Skewing of the results because not everyone in the sample takes part in the research resulting in the response rate representing a specific group.
Response rate/non-response
Proportion of the questionnaires that is completed and returned.
Online research/mobile research
Digital data collection online.
Systematic/random sample error
Non-response due to the fact that respondents themselves opt not to take part in the research, or through random errors.
Respondent refusal
People who refuse to take part for whatever reason.
