Chapter 6 Flashcards
Scales must meet the requirements for accuracy and condition established by who?
The Bureau of Weights and Measures of the FL Dept of Agriculture.
How often do scales need to be recertified?
Every six months by the Bureau of Weights and Measures.
In addition to recertification, periodic checks must be done. When the difference exceeds what weight must a recheck be done on a second set of recertified scales?
8 pounds per ton of load
Checks must be done when?
Once asphalt production begins and at least every 30 days during production.
Are asphalt delivery tickets accepted as an approved documentation?
Yes
How often does the automatic printer have to be certified?
Every 6 months.
What minimum information should be found on asphalt delivery tickets (7 things)?
Load #, project #, Date, Name & location of the plant, mix design #, gross, tare and net tonnage per truck and the daily total tonnage of mix for the mix design.
Can materials of different Design Mix types be inputted together?
No, tickets of different design mix types should be inputted separately.
What issues the weight in pounds per feet for reinforced steel?
Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institutes Manual of Standard Practice.
Are reinforcing steel quantities normally summarized separately for the various components of structure (ex end bend, pier, median well, etc)?
Yes they are.
Where should the breakdowns of pay quantities be recorded?
In the Summary of Quantities sheets within the Final As-Built Plans along with the total pounds of reinforcing steel for the project.
The High Strength Fastener Assemblies are computed in weigh per how many bolts?
100 bolts
Do reinforcing bars or welded wire mesh deducted from concrete volumes?
No since the area they occupy in concrete structures is minimal.
What is the formula used to compute the cubic feet of a deduct?
Volume = (Length into Concrete Member) x (Cross Sectional Area) x (No. of Steel Members)
