goodwin anulled by chancery for breaking the law and was replaced with fortescue - many saw this as a royal interference, james raised debate over prerogative and a new election was held to make it fair

MP shirley arrested for debt and held in the tower of london - MPs pushing for freedom from arrest as part of parliamentary privillege

there would be a anew currency, james would be king of both countries and all ships would carry the union flag
