A topic that refers to individuals’ sexual desires behaviours, and identities
Sexual orientation
Heterosexual, homosexual, bi, straight, pan sexual
Social constructionism
Gender differences and sexuality are not products of social structures and culture (not biology) ex. Patriarchy and gender division of labour. Nurture
Gender roles
Specific behaviours and attitudes that a society establishes for men and women
Sexual scripts
Ideas of how males and females are suppose to interact with each others
Heteronormativity
How social institutions and policies reinforce the presumption that people are heterosexual and that gender and sex are natural binaries.
Queer theory
That sexuality is not binary (straight/gay) because various sexual orientations can exist
Sociobiology
The study of the biological bases of behaviour in the context of neo-darwinian evolutionary theory
Essentialist
Assume that male-female difference in behaviours are natural and universal. Opposite to social constructionism
