Chapter 5 Flashcards
What is project scope?
Everything about a project—work content as well as expected outcomes. Project scope consists of naming all activities to be performed, the resources consumed, and
the end products that result, including quality standards.
What is scope management?
the function of controlling a project in terms
of its goals and objectives through the processes of conceptual development, full definition,
execution, and termination
What are six main activities in the project scope management?
- Conceptual development
- Scope statement
- Work authorization
- Scope reporting
- Control systems
- Project closeout
What is conceptual development?
the process that addresses project objectives by finding the best ways to meet them
What are the key steps in information development for conceptual development?
Problem or need statement Requirements gathering Information gathering Constraints Alternative analysis Project objectives Business case
What is the statement of work?

What are work packages?
defined as WBS elements of the project that are isolated for assignment to “work centers” for accomplishment.
What is organization breakdown structure?
An additional benefit of creating a comprehensive WBS for a project is the ability to organize
the work needed to be performed into cost control accounts that are assignable to various units
engaged in performing project activities within the company. The outcome of organizing this
material is the organization Breakdown structure (oBs).
