Secret society formed to protect rights of colonists and fight taxation.

England could tax as they saw fit, but stamp act was ended.
What was important about the Townshend Acts?
The taxed imported goods before they arrived in colonies

Required the colonies to house British soldiers in barracks provided by colonies
