Treatment Settings: Inpatient Hospital
Criteria: Danger/harm to self, danger/harm to others, not being able to function in daily living
Duration: Typically 3-7 days
Rapid assessment, stabilization of symptoms, discharge planning
Client-centered multidisciplinary approach

Patient involved in criminal cases w/ mental illness
Dual Diagnosis
Refers to a client w/mental illness as well as a substance abuse disorder
May also refer to a client w/mental illness & developmental disorder
More difficult to treat due to more issues posed by multiple diagnoses
- Higher rates of nonadherence to treatment & poorer long-term outcomes
Treatment Settings: Partial Hospitalization (PHP)
Day treatment programs: Clients return home at night

Community Meaning
Includes all the clients on the unit, focuses on matters that affect ALL clients
Ex) Water heater is broken, snack shortage
Miliui
Includes all staff members, focuses on how they can improve the unit
Psychosocial Rehabilitation
Refers to services designed to promote the recovery process for clients w/mental illness
Goals of Psychiatric Rehabilitation
Recovery from mental illness
Personal growth
Quality of lime
Community reintegration
Empowerment
Increased independence
Decreased hospital admissions
Improved vocational & social functioning
Continuous treatment
