Chapter 4 - Physics Flashcards
What does a circuit diagram show?
It shows how components are connected together
What does a battery consist of?
They consist of two or more cells connected together.
What is the size of an electric current?
It is the rate of flow of charge.
What does Ohm’s law state?
It states that the current through a resistor at constant temperature is directly proportional to the potential difference across the resistor.
What does reversing the potential difference across a resistor do?
It reverses the current through it
When does the filament lamp’s resistance increases?
It increases if the filament’s temperature increases
When does a thermistor’s resistance decrease?
It decreases when the temperature increases
When does an LDR’s resistance decrease?
It decreases when light intensity on it increases
What does adding more resistors in series do?
It increases the total resistance because the current through the resistors is reduced and the total potential difference across them is unchanged.
What happens as the bigger the resistance of a component gets?
The smaller the current that will pass through that component
