Chapter 4 Notes Flashcards
What five clock speeds were commonly used on the early DRAM system?
66, 75, 83, 100 and 133 MHz
They all had the prefix “PC”
So the clock speeds were PC66-PC133
DDR SDRAM on laptops
Come in either 200-pin SO-DIMMs or 172-pin micro-DIMMs
DDR3
30 percent lower power consumption than DRR2 RAM
Uses 240 pin DIMM
DDR3 SO-DIMM for portable computers have 204 pins
DDRs and their pins
DDR4 uses 288pin DIMM
DDR4 SO-DIMMs have 260 pins
DDR3 204 pin SO-DIMM
DDR5 DIMMs have 288pins
Latency explained
If two types of ram have the same speed rating, RAM with lower latency (such as CL17) is slightly faster than RAM with higher latency (such as CL19) bc it responds faster.
CL = clock cycle delays
17 = memory delays 17 clock cycles before delivering the requested data.
What’s are the key stokes to get to the task manager?
Ctrl-shift -esc
