to produce alot of grass for the cattle to eat

ranch owner whose father traveled north from Mexico to California in 1801. He was the last governor of Mexican California
what is a hacienda?
main house built around an open courtyard
what is a veranda?
a porch that than inside of the courtyard walls
how did land grants help California economy?
helped the population grow and trade increased.
How did the Mexican laws help the California economy?
allowed trade with other countries. Trading ships from US, Britain and other parts of the world came to California ports
