A
  • A story of Adam and Eve’s children
  • Brothers named Cain and Abel
  • Offered gifts to God
  • God did not take Cain’s gift but, he took Abel’s gift.
    -Cain got mad and killed Abel. So God banished Cain
    -Instead of shutting Cain out he gave him his protection
    Symbolism: the separation of human beings from one another
    Effect: the first human family struggled because of original sin.

Tower of Babel

A
  • Story of humans who, God told them to spread across the earth and be his stewards.
  • The humans thought if they moved away they would be exposed to many different dangers so they built a tower.
  • God saw what they were doing and to stop them he mixed up their languages.
    Symbolism: Humanity’s loss of unity and the development of different languages. Effect: The unity of the human race was lost.

  • God wanted to put an end to all mortals on earth
  • Because of humans earth is full of lawlessness
  • God told Noah to build an ark and put two of every animal in it male and female. And his family.
  • There was forty days and forty nights of continual rain
  • after that a covenant was created with God and Noah.
    Symbolism: a rainbow. Effect: God made a covenant with Noah
