Since the people of Judah questioned God’s power and doubted him he wanted and did what?
God wanted his people to stay close to him, so he sent a great prophet to reassure them. We call this prophet of Isaiah of Jerusalem.
What did Isaiah tell the king?
- He said he did not think the king should rely on Assyria
- He warned the king that the people would suffer because of Assyria.
Despite the prophets words, Ahaz and the people what?
Turned away from God and their covenant with him.
What did Isaiah insist?
That God’s punishment was not meant to destroy Judah, but to make it pure and faithful again.
Which king listened to Isaiah and what did he do?
Hezekiah, stopped practices against the on true God, removed foreign idols from the Temple, and closed local shrines where the false gods and goddesses were worshipped.
Tried to help the poor and those who were suffering because of the many injustices in Judah.
