Chapter 4 Flashcards
Fitt’s and Posner’s 3 stage model
Cognitive, associative, autonomous
Cognitive stage
Beginner, inconsistent performance, many gross errors, greatest improvements
Associative stage
Intermediate learner, lower attentional demand. More consistent performance, gradual improvements
Autonomous stage
Advanced learner, automatic, few errors, focus on strategy
Bernstein’ a 3 stage model
Based on degrees of freedom
1. Freezing limbs
2. Releasing limbs
3. Environment exploitation
Freezing limbs
Freeze DOF to simplify task, restrict independent parts, reduce variability of body parts
Releasing limbs
Gains independence of body parts, becomes more elegant
Environmental exploitation
Less info processing, faster movements, proficiency
Gentile’s 2 stage model
Stage 1: getting the idea of movement
Stage 2: fixation and diversification
