What is employment at will?
Either party can terminate at any time for any reason.
What are the public policy exceptions to employment at will?
Not violating law, whistleblowing, jury duty, exercising right (workers comp), discrimination.
What is the contract exception to employment at will?
Express contract, implied contract meaning employer failed to followed handbook, no cause for termination.
What is the tort exception to employment at will?
IIed, defamation, fraud by employer.
What are the general rules for child labor?
<14 certain types of work, hours restrictions. Parents, newspapers, farming. 14-15, not hazardous. 16-18 not hazardous jobs. Agriculture has freedom.
What are the minimum wage laws?
$7.25 per hour for nonexempt employees. Tip workers $2.13 per hour + tips must equal $7.25, if not company must make up difference.
How do state workers compensation laws work?
Compensated from fund/insurance, all states require workers’ compensation insurance, Wyo is state run.
What are the exceptions to state workers compensation laws?
Domestic workers, agricultural workers, temp employees, real estate, independent contractors.
How does a worker get workers comp?
Prove existence of employment, and accidental injury that occurred on job or course of employment, regardless of fault.

Safe harbor, no reasonable expectation of privacy.

Make it fair, don’t monitor unless necessary, be transparent.
