in lower colon & rectum

What causes trichinosis?
trichinella spiralis
How is trichinella spiralis contracted?
by eat encysted larvae in rare pork
What is happening in trichinella spiralis?
1) female burrows into intestine & release live offspring into the blood
2) Painful cysts form in muscle tissue.
What are heartworms?
microfilaria transmitted by mosquito bite
grows in the heart & slows blood flow
Elephantiasis is caused by?
filarial worm
What happens in elephantiasis?
tangled nests of worms infest vessels of lymphatic system causing fluid to pool w/in body & limbs to swell & stretch
What is ascaris?
when worms infest mammals
separate sexes
digestive/respiratory pathway
