Chapter 32 -2 Flashcards
What are the 2 developmental groups animals are divided into?
protosomes
deuterostomes
What do protostomes do?
develop mouth first from blastopore
spiral cleavage in embryo
determinate development of embryonic cells
What do deuterostomes do?
develop anus first from blastopore
radical cleavage in embryo
indeterminate development of embryonic cells
What are the 3 body cavities?
acoelomate
pseudocoelomate
coelomate
What are animals with acoelomate?
lack complete tube & body cavity & anus
What is a flatworm an example of?
acoelomate body cavity
What do animals have with pseudocoelomate?
complete digestive tube w/ anus but lacks mesoderm support (tube w/in tube structure)
What is roundworm an example of?
pseudocoelomate body cavity
What do animals have with coelomate?
complete digestive tube w/ tissue support in body cavity & an anus
What is earthworm an example of?
coelomate body cavity
What happens in open circulatory system?
blood passes from vessles into sinuses, mixes w/ body fluids & reenters vessels
What happens in closed circulatory system?
blood moves continuously through vessels that are separated from body fluids
What are the body positions of invertebrates?
anterior - posterior
dorsal - ventral
lateral
