what are Perinatal mood disorders (PMDs)
a set of disorders that can occur any time during pregnancy as well as in the first year postpartum and can include depression (PPD), anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and postpartum psychosis

Safety is primary concern , inpatient will be 1 on 1 , wont leave alone with infant, sitter

Experienced by 10% to 15% of postpartum women
Cause can be biologic, psychologic, situational, or multifactorial
Poor nutrition
Complications of pregnancy and birth increase the risk for PPD
Commonly abused drugs in pregnancy
Tobacco
Alcohol
Marijuana
Cocaine
Methamphetamine
Opioids
Prescription drugs
