What is convection?
The loss of body heat caused by air movement
What is turgor?
The ability of the skin to resist deformation. Tested by gently pinching skin on the forehead or back of hand.
What does moist, pale, and cool skin indicate?
Excessive fluid and salt loss
What does hot and dry skin indicate?
Body is unable to regulate core temperature.
What does hot and moist skin indicate?
Body is unable to regulate core temperature.
What is conduction?
The loss of body heat by direct contact
What are the signs and symptoms of hypothermia?
95-93 F: shivering, foot stamping
92-89 F: loss of coordination, muscle stiffness
88-80 F: coma
What is considered mild hypothermia?
Core temperature between 95-90 F
What is considered severe hypothermia?
Core temperature less than 90 F
