Chapter 3 Flashcards

1
Q

Epidermis

A

Constist of several layers of stratified squamous epithelium.

  • cells produced in basal layer
  • cells pushed up flattened, fill up w/ keratin & die
  • layers of packed dead cells accumulate in the outermost layer, where they are sloughed off.

44
Q

Herpes Simplex Virus type 2 (HSV-2)

A

Sexually transmitted, ulcer-like lesions of the genital and arorectal skin and mucosa; after initial infection, the virus lies dormant in the nerve cell root and may recur at times of stress
