Landlords who received land as grants from the King of France.

A region claimed and governed by a country on another part of the world.

Large plots of land owned by seigneurs
Where was Rupert’s Land located?
Mostly around Hudson’s Bay.
Where was the Thirteen Colonies located?
Mostly in the USA.
Where was New France located?
Mostly by Quebec and the Maritime provinces.
What was the purpose of colonies?
To bring back resources and riches to their Mother Country. They also wanted more land to gain wealth.
What are some similarities between the French and British colonies?
Both wanted to get more land, more gold, etc.
What are some differences between the French and British?
New France wanted to make friends with the First Nation while the British saw them as obstacles.
New France wanted to convert the First Nations to Catholic while the British didn’t care about that.
Describe the life of a Courier de Bois
They were running into the woods to seek out First Nation traders for supplies of beaver pelts to bring into the fur trade.
