What is terrorism?
the use of violence and intimidation to achieve political of ideological goals.
What are the objective of terrorism?
to attain a specific goal, to spread fear and anxiety by breaking normal social order, to provoke target government to use excessive force to gain sympathy.
What is state terrorism?
Use of terrorist methods by government to force obedience form general population.
What are the motivations for terrorism?
Rational motiv-abandining other methods of reaching goals b/c of ineffectiveness.
Psychological motiv- sense of life purpose (true belivers)
Cultural motiv- fear of cultural/religious values being under threat.
What is the war on terror?
The term used by US for its anti-terrorist activities after 9/11
What is chemical terrorism?
use of chemical agents (poison gas) in terrorist acts.
What is bioterrorism?
use of biological agents (viruses) in terrorist acts.
