what is a hernia
defect in innermost fascia of abdominal wall

must listen for 5 minutes before saying they are “silent”

percussion- heard over air filled areas, such as stomach and intestines

what does rigidity indicate?
diffuse rigidity- peritonitis
localized- appendix, gallbladder
what does tenderness indicate?
inflammation, masses, or organomegaly
